Pastor Roy's music explores issues our community faces by placing a magnifying glass upon them so the invisible can be seen. Roy is a community activist and advocate for literacy in the African American Community. Using his message of inspiration and love in his music to change the opportunities of our youth is a priority and responsibility to Roy.
Pastor Roy attended an all-black college where community activism was prevalent and this encouraged him to give back as well. The importance of healing our community is ever present throughout Roy’s songs. Subjects like civil rights and faith are at the forefront of Roy's musical agenda. Like most African American men living in America, Roy has had his struggles. After his parents divorced when Roy was only three years old, his mother would become a single parent and soul provider for their household. Roy and his mother moved around a lot during his adolescence and he attending at least thirteen schools. With a deep passion for the arts and music from an early age, Pastor Roy often escaped his harsh reality by creating art and writing literature. From sketches to portraits then poems to songs, music would obviously become Pastor Roy's paramount artistic expression and the world will surely be gracious to receive it.
